Comminiqué of the worker – cummunist party of Iran – hekmatist – Towards May Day, Against the Capitalist Onder, Long live workers’ Revolution

We are approaching 1st of May, the symbol of the international unity of the working class and the raising of the banner of “Workers of the World, Unite.” First of May is the landmark day of the international protest of the working class against the inverted order of capital. It is one of the important days when the working class declares its opposition against wage slavery. On this day, from the perspective of billions of people in all parts of the world, the fundamental difference and opposition between two classes and two distinct movements is revealed. On International Workers’ Day, in many countries and cities, we witness marches and meetings of workers and people protesting against capitalist exploitation and oppression.

The international working class and all wage earners and freedom seekers are protesting against the capitalist order. Capitalism is in deep crisis while being at the height of its international expansion, its greatest economic transformations and technological, informatics and artificial intelligence. The world is saturated with the wealth that the working class has produced and yet the physical survival has become a crisis for billions of working people from the poor countries of Africa, Asia and South America to the heart of the capitals of Western Europe and the United States.

War, terrorism and the killing of people are rampant in all continents. Enormous intellectual, cultural, social and political setbacks, including the return of religious ignorance, patriarchy, racism, child abuse, misogyny, anti-immigration and fascism, and the collapse of human rights and dignity at the ruthless hands of capitalism and the free market, threaten the lives of millions of children, young and old. Organized crime has become an everyday reality in political and economic life of many countries. Capitalism and the principle of profit have caused irreparable damage to the environment.

The working class and humanity are experiencing the barbarity of capitalism with their own flesh and blood. No period in the history of capitalism has the working class been so intensely exploited and its share of the fruits of its labour been so low. The technological revolution has not only increased the economic exploitation of workers, but has also provided new ways for the bourgeoisie to maintain its authority. Technology and artificial intelligence have led to the enslavement of billions of people and the intensification of poverty, unemployment, and discrimination.

The destructive economic, political, and military competition between the big capitalist poles, the growth of the far right, and the threat of fascism are pushing the world toward a future full of crises and conflicts. In the Middle East, after October 7, 2023, terrorism and war in Palestine and the fascist genocide committed by the Israeli government in Gaza have become symbols of the barbarity of the present era. The US and Israel will use the Hamas terrorist attack as a pretext to implement their predetermined and long awaited plans for the “new” and completely inhumane Middle East.

Today, ending this situation is tied to the conscious and organized presence of the socialist movement of the working class. The only solution is a workers’ revolution to crush the capitalist order and its barbarity. There is no third way. The alternative is workers’ socialism. The solutions of the bourgeois and reformist leftists have failed and are defeated. Workers’ socialism, relying on the current strength and capacity of the working class and the oppressed, and by overcoming its limitations, can turn the page and return power to humanity.

The Iranian working class is welcoming 1st of May under special circumstances. Iranian society is on the verge of determining changes. The Islamic Republic is immersed in complex crises and has no future. In the last decade, the anger of the people has shown itself in protests such as January 2017, November 2019, the revolutionary uprising of 2022, workers’ strikes and mass protests to overthrow the Islamic regime. During this same period, despite the unfavourable balance of forces, workers’ strikes and important social protests have continued.

There is now, more than ever, more hope for the Iranian working class to play its role as a leading force in the social transformations. The workers’ movement can take up the banner of freedom, equality, and the liberation of society. It can represent the workers’ indictment against the capitalist order. It can unite the ranks of the working class to fight against low wages which are currently several times below the poverty line. It can unite the working class for adequate wages and universal welfare. It can reittirate the demand of immediate and unconditional release of political prisoners. It can demand an end to executions, repression, sanctions, the atmosphere of war, imperialist threats, and an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people at the hands of the fascist state of Israel.

on 1st May, let us declare: If we, the workers, are at the helm of society, we will bring freedom, equality, and prosperity for all citizens with the wealth we have produced ourselves. If the power is in our hands, we will create a better world and a better life. We put an end to government expenditures on arms, armies, the apparatus of repression, and security and religious institutions. we can eradicate poverty, hunger, unemployment, and disease. We can build a prosperous society and a life worthy of humanity for all.
